Phoenix is located in Maricopa County, Arizona. It is Arizona’s capitol city and the county seat of Maricopa County. According to 2009 census estimates, Phoenix had a population of 1,552,229 residents. Since 2000, the population of Phoenix has grown by almost 15%. Phoenix is the hub of the Phoenix Metropolitan Area, which consists of all of the cities in of Maricopa and Pinal Counties.
Because it is situated in the Sonoran Desert, Phoenix has the hottest Climate of any major city in the US. Summertime Highs frequently reach over 100 degrees and temperature spikes of over 120 degrees are not uncommon. Though its location makes for some of the hottest weather in the nation, the McDowell, White Tank, Superstition and Sierra Estrella mountain ranges surrounding the city offer stunning views as well as excellent hiking, off-roading, mountain biking and other outdoor activities.
Because Phoenix is the metropolitan epicenter of Arizona, every amenity you may need is just a short drive away. Phoenix offers a variety of dining, entertainment and recreational venues for all ages and tastes.
